Trader Joe’s Flower Arrangements #1

This last week I went to my favorite place… Trader Joe’s! I know that is likely a regular occurrence for most folks but when the closest one is over an hour away it is a real treat. While I was there stocking up on all the things I noticed that there were so many beautiful bouquets of flowers. People were buying lots of bunches and it was fun to see what everyone was buying. Lots of yellows and bright colors! When you run out of flowers in your yard one of the best substitutes are Trader Joe’s flowers.

I decided to buy a few bunches of my own and see what I could arrange. One of the cool things about Trader Joe’s is that they sell straight bunches of flowers. I gave myself $20 and the challenge of using flowers that are in season to see what I could come up with.

I bought four bunches and set to work putting them together when I arrived home. Here is what I got:

Sage

This filler was really fragrant and added some great vertical height to add to the arrangement.

Sage

St. John’s Wort

This was a fun little bit and bob to add to the arrangements. To be honest I didn’t know what is was when I got it but looked it up when I got to the car.

St. John’s Wort

Chrysanthemums

This flower has a bad rap. We are most familiar with the ugly porch varieties that people put out in the fall. While there can be some beauty there, mum have some very interesting shapes and colors and make a great cut flower.

Mums

Eucalyptus

This is so on trend I am almost annoyed with myself, but what can I say, It is on trend for a reason.

Eucalyptus

I had fun playing around with these flowers and fillers. This was enough to make three mason jar arrangements and one bigger arrangement. I was also able to add in some of our white sunflowers which were really nice.

This is a fun way to be able to keep playing with flowers even when the frost kills them in the yard! I am looking forward to seeing what November brings!
